RELIABLE MEANS OF CIVIL AND INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING PROTECTION
We offer you “HYDROEFFECT” new generation penetrating operation materials designed to protect concrete, brick and other building structures against water affecting, bio-corrosion and corrosive medium. Their mechanism is characterized by repetitive (in tens of times and by a factor of hundreds) reduction of water absorption by building materials. This preserves their gas and water vapor permeability, the material "breathes" and easily repels water. This protects the structure from the capillary rise of moisture, from rain water penetration, from destruction in freezing-thawing cycles or by salt and acids solutions. The durability of the effect will last for decades.
The admix to a concrete mixture is a multifunctional modifier, multifunctional liquid composition produced by using of nanotechnology based on organo-element compound with appropriate physical and chemical characteristics and is intended to improve the technical characteristics of the technology of cement and other building materials production by introducing them into their composition at the time of mix making.
There are three ways of lifetime increasing:
The introduction of water-based concrete polyfunctional additives (PFA) affecting its structuring, pore space and permeability to water.
Surface treatment of concrete by the means of grouting of formed surface by active chemical agents on water base or solvent-borne.
Development of protective coatings-sealants, excluding the environmental effect (waterproof coating).
In extreme cases it is possible to combine the usage of the three methods.
Hydrophobic materials are environmentally-friendly, non-toxic, non-explosive and non-combustible.
The most radical way to reduce the viscosity of the concrete mixtures and impart the hydrophobic properties to the end product is the usage of a multifunctional additive which has the ability to thin the concrete mixtures. It reduces the consumption of water and cement, allows obtaining the constructions of higher quality and higher grades.
Worldwide, the volume of concrete with admixtures is growing steadily. Multifunctional admixes used in concrete technology have active plasticizing property (thinning of concrete mixtures) that can significantly (20-25%) reduce the saturation of concrete mixtures with water, while maintaining medium workability required. A polyfunctional admix (PFA) serving as a polyfunctional modifier release the constructor workers from dosing several different admixes of various applications in a concrete mixture. PFA application is aimed at improving the properties of concrete and primarily increasing its durability under cyclical freezing and thawing, wetting and drying, capillary suction and evaporation of salt solutions as well as prolonged exposure of corrosive medium.
The introduction of the PFA into concrete contributes to:
Reduction of the viscosity of the cement-water suspensions, mobility, slug plasticity what improves the technological properties of concrete mixes and its workability;
The formation of concrete mixes without heating in formwork and (30%) of water and cement economy;
Exclusion of corrosion processes of metal adapter fittings;
Absence of efflorescence;
Concrete obtains hydrophobic properties what reduces the ability of water absorption in many times;
Concrete obtaining higher strength characteristics;
Concrete is of high concrete frost;
Acquisition of concrete resistance to chemical corrosion (when exposed to salt solutions and acids);
Acquisition
concrete biocorrosion resistance (bacteria, molds, fungi, etc.).
PROTECTION OF FORMED CONCRETE SURFACE BY
ACTIVE AGENTS "HYDROEFFECT" BRAND
Processing concrete surfaces with "HYDROEFFECT" trade mark hydrophobisators allows their penetration to a depth of 8-20mm (depending on the porosity of the material), giving the surface adequate qualities:
The surface becomes hydrophobic, i.e. water does not wet concrete;
The surface sustains the original color and texture, if necessary an additive to water-repellent agent UV-resistant pigment gives the front of the building suitable tint;
The hydrophobic coating has a temperature resistance up to 150 ° C and is non-combustible;
The hydrophobic coating is UV-resistant relatively to unfiltered sun radiation;
Thermal insulation (thermal insulation) properties of the surface increase significantly, since there is no moisture – the main carrier of the heat – in the hydrophobic pores of the concrete;
The surface acquires the properties of cold resistance and crack resistance;
The surface acquires chemical resistance and weather resistance. This is a result of lack of adhesion of aggressive substances:
The sulfur oxides turning – if there is the presence of moisture in the pores – into sulfuric acid and substances reacting with cement.
Nitrogen oxides, which are the most aggressive and are hygroscopic themselves (denitration of the slug of the building material is one of the challenging tasks in building sanitization).
The radionuclides which are present in the atmosphere in the form of water dispersions and gases.
At the same time there is an increase mechanical strength of the hydrophobic surface layer, which is associated with the termination of hairline crack formation and chemical degradation;
There is no efflorescence on porous hydrophobic surface;
Dust gobbled on the surface, due to the lack of adhesion, is easily removed by an industrial vacuum cleaner or by water.
MODES OF APPLICATION
1. PFA for wide hydrophobization of concrete stone is introduced into the volume of cement slug in the dosing process in the quantity according to the instructions while mixing intimately.
"HYDROEFFECT" trade mark hydrophobe liquid is applied on a dry concrete surface –
by spraying, with a paint roller or with a brush – until fully saturated. A high warranty of hydrophobicity is provided by retreatment of the surface in accordance with instructions.
RANGES OF APPLICATION
• Civil and industrial structural engineering based on concrete.
• Airfield pavement and road coating.
• Elevated roads, paving slabs.
• Bridges, dams, piers, docks, causeways, tunnels, outer sewers, pinnings, elevators, wells and reservoirs for drinking water, swimming pools, basements, cellars, etc.
• Other cement-containing materials.
TECHNICAL-AND-ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY EFFECT
OF THE APPLICATION OF "HYDROEFFECT" POLYFUNCTIONAL MATERIALS
• Increased fluidity of concrete mix reduces the expenditure on forming, in particular, on pouring of concrete and its screeding, compaction and finish.
• Compressive strength increased by reduction of bleeding of the concrete mix is the most cost-effective in structures pressed together.
Increasing strength of concrete reduces its volume and flow rate of the working reinforcement by (15-20%) in the centric compression elements, and in middling by 10% - in flexural members and eccentric compression elements.
• Reduce cement consumption without changing the technological properties of the concrete mix and strength properties of concrete. This effect is the result of a possible increase of concrete strength. Cement stretch-out allows producing incremental products. The maximum effect is achieved by using the cement saved for the production of incremental products.
• Downgrading brand of cement without deterioration of technological properties of the concrete mix and concrete strength properties. This trend of using is recommended in case of failure to reduce cement consumption due to the need to maintain its minimum allowable flow rate in the absence of cement required to produce high-grade concrete.
PFA efficiency increases alongside with increase of concrete grade.
Thus, the maximum economic benefit of the usage of "HYDROEFFECT" trade mark PFA in concrete technology is visualized in:
• an increase in production
• reducing of material consumption structure
• replacement of Portland cement with Portland cement of a lower grade
• reduce cement consumption – especially when it is of a significant quantity, various effects integrated use.
WATERPROOFING OF CONCRETE ROOFS
If the roof surface is a flat, smooth surface of the concrete without any dust and other dirtying with a standard hardening period (at least 28 days), the hydrophobicity imparting is performed directly with "HYDROEFFECT" water-repellent on water-based by liquid atomization or in other ways. The surface must be as dry as possible for a better absorption of water repellent by pores at the maximum depth. Re-coating of still slightly wet first coating layer gives a reliable warranty. Drying time depends on the temperature and environmental humidity.
2. If the surface of the concrete roof is old, it is necessary to perform a series of simple additional conditions:
• The temperature of the surface on which the water repellent is applied, should not be below + 5 ° The surface must be free of dust (by industrial vacuum cleaners), of other substances dirt that weakens mortar adhesion to the surface (oil products, fats, oils, bitumen, etc.);
• The surface treated must not have any breaches.
• Weak and fragile parts of the surface must be removed to the intact concrete level by mechanical means.
• Breaches are to be expanded and deepen at least (5 x 5) mm.
• Areas ready for the repair have to be treated with 5% aqueous solution of "HYDROEFFECT" PFA (admix is diluted 2-3 fold with water) for the strong adhesion of the old concrete to a fresh concrete repair mortar, which is a water-cement paste or cement-sand mixture with 0.3% "HYDROEFFECT" admixture of cement-aggregate ratio (1 ÷ 3).
• After the repair or a drying process the roof can be treated with hydrophobizator as described in
p.3. For stronger hydrophobisation of a concrete roof after all the works have been carried out according to p.2, the entire surface is treated with 5% solution of PFA (admix is diluted 6-7 fold with water) and cement-sand mortar (1: 3) with a thickness of 5-10 mm to 0.3% admixture of cement-aggregate ratio is applied over still slightly wet surface. Being completely dried out the surface is treated 1 or 2 times with "HYDROEFFECT" hydrophobizator as described in p.1.
HYDROPHOBIZATION OF WALLS
Hydrophobization of walls is similar to hydrophobization of roofs (according to p.1-3) depending on the degree of their damage. In many cases it is very difficult to remove the old plaster. Therefore, it is protected from breaking the following way.
Weak areas of the plaster are removed and the repair is carried out according to p. 2.
The known plaster (primer, filler) can be applied to seal the weak sections of the walls. Hydrophobization is to be conducted in a warm and dry weather in ten days after the completion of all face fit-out works.
Ground work is the main target of the destructive action of water. Protection of the pinning by the means of waterproofing is carried out depending on the degree of its water-cut or water content. The accessible surface of the pinning should be well dried. The dry surface is processed 1 or 2 times with "HYDROEFFECT" hydrophobising composition. If waterproofing is made by means of Portland cement solutions with PFA, "HYDROEFFECT" compositions should be applied on a damp surface treated with "HYDROEFFECT" hydrophobizator. Each subsequent layer must be applied to the wet surface of the previous cement-sand composition layer fixed. Cement waterproofing must be protected from any mechanical damage for the following 2 days after having been applied. Reinforcement with fiber glass can satisfactorily be used while making waterproofing of mortars. If necessary, you can create protective coatings, insulating concrete from the harmful effects of the environment, as well as the directionless pressure of water.
After complete drying-out and testing the surface for high hydrophobicity, bitumen coating composition with good adhesion to the hydrophobic surface of the cement is quite acceptable. With substantial watering of the pinning it is necessary to apply a special (proposed by us) technique using special solutions and anchor holes.
